A thoroughly disgusting YouTube about the abuse of Iraqi civilians. To be sure, the behavior of the troops in the video is not indicative of the overall mentality of American troops; however, the shock value involved with viewing the clip evokes serious questions regarding our presence in the country.
What frustrates me most about the American attitude regarding the Iraqi people (and our foreign policy in general) is that our elected officials tend to view citizens of other countries as sub-human. The idea that somehow, absent American presence, occupied countries would suddenly collapse into a state of chaos, is absurd. Such myths, when allowed to permeate the American mentality, will only produce more atrocious crimes.
